Apple, Lemon & Ginger
3 apples – red
1/4 of lemon – flesh only
1″ slice of ginger
Benefits: This juice is great for helping to lower cholesterol levels. Apple juice, especially if juice the apples with their skins on, have been shown in several studies to be very effective at lowering LDL “bad” cholesterol levels. The skins of apples contain pectin – a soluble form of fiber that is not discarded by a juicing machine. Pectin binds with LDL cholesterol (from the food we eat) in our intestines so that we poop it out before it gets a chance to absorb into the blood stream. Apple juice made without the skins is still somewhat effective at lowering LDL cholesterol because there is some pectin in the flesh of the fruit but not nearly as much as in the skin.
